Heavy rain in parts of the south

Heavy outbreaks of rain in southern counties steadily clear, although it's likely to be well into the afternoon before it turns drier in the south eastern corner and East Anglia. Amounts of rain will vary, with the highest totals likely to be near the south coast. Central and northern areas have sunny spells and blustery showers. It will be windy in the north and west.

Tonight:
Showers fade away from the west, leaving dry and bright conditions in most of the UK. Rather cool.

Tomorrow:
Wet weather slowly clears southeastwards. Cooler and brighter conditions follow, but there will be heavy and blustery showers in the north.

Thursday: Persistent outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Central and eastern areas remain dry and bright.

Outlook: All areas could see showers or longer spells of rain, with the wettest periods in the west. However, there should be a good deal of dry weather in the south and east, where amounts of rain will generally be small.
