An area of low pressure will deepen and push up from the southwest in the coming days, bringing the potential for significant amounts of rain across much of the UK. However, there is an increasing chance of showers starting to develop in the south west this afternoon. Temperatures range from 18°C in northern Scotland to 24°C in southern England.
