Still hot but heat begins to abate

Hot in the south

A band of cloud and patchy rain pushes southwards. Brighter conditions follow it into the north, but there will be scattered showers in Scotland. In much of southern and central Britain it remains dry, bright and very hot.

Temperatures range from 17°C in northern Scotland to 34°C in the south east and East Anglia. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight:
Thundery showers are possible in central and eastern England. There will also be patchy rain in the far north, but elsewhere it remains dry with clear periods. 

Tomorrow:
Heavy showers in central and eastern areas steadily fade away. Showers continue in Scotland, but sunny spells should develop quite widely across the UK. In the south it remains very warm, and locally temperatures could reach 30°C still.

Sunday: Much of the UK has a dry day, although some showery rain is likely in the north. Temperatures continue trending downwards, but it will still be warm in the south.

Outlook: Outbreaks of rain spread across the north at times. However, in southern and central areas it remains dry initially  with variable amounts of cloud. During the middle part of next week more changeable and cooler conditions are likely.
