Hottest day of the current heatwave By Brian Gaze [Published 07:45 13/08/2026] Temperatures are expected to reach 37°C today, with a chance that 38°C could be recorded, which would equal the highest value officially reached during this record-breaking summer. The hottest conditions will be in southern and central areas, with showery outbreaks of rain bringing a very different picture to much of Northern Ireland and Scotland. 14 day weather forecast video Issued 4th August 2026 Very hot in England and eastern Wales The weather will be mixed across the UK today. Much of Scotland and Northern Ireland have showery outbreaks of rain. However, in England and Wales it remain fine with long sunny periods. It will be the hottest day of the current heatwave, and there is an outside chance that the highest temperature of the year, 38°C, could be equalled. Temperatures range from 19°C in northern Scotland to 37°C in the south east, with a low possibility of 38°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.
