Long sunny periods will lead to a very hot day in southern and central areas, but also potentially fine conditions for viewing the solar eclipse. In the north things are more mixed, with a greater risk of cloud. The highest temperatures in the latest hot spell are expected to be tomorrow when 38°C may be reached.

Hot in southern and central areas

Cloud amounts vary in the north and there will be patchy rain in the far north west. Southern and central regions have a hot day with long sunny periods.

Eclipse conditions

With the clearest skies expected in southern and central areas, this is where the best conditions for viewing the solar eclipse are likely. However, cloud breaks in more northern locations also offer potential, but there is more ucertainty.

Temperatures range from 19°C in northern Scotland to 35°C in southern England. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.
