The heat will start building again today, with the peak of this wave expected on Thursday. It's possible that 38°C could be reached, although most models are in the 34°C to 37°C range. The highest officially reported temperature so far this year was 38°C, so it's not out of the question that the record could be challenged. The days are now quickly shortening, so if it isn't beaten this week, it likely won't be.
