Rain remains mostly in the north

North to south split

Heavy outbreaks of rain in the north steadily clear, but there will persist in northern Scotland into the evening. Heavy showers follow into other parts of the north, and a few are likely in southern Britain too. However, many places in the south and east remain dry and very warm or hot.

Tonight:
Showers continue in the north and west, perhaps merging to give longer spells of rain in Northern Ireland. Southern and central areas remain dry. 

Tomorrow:
Showers continue in the north and west. A few may push southwards, but in southern and central areas it should be mostly dry and bright. Windy. Cooler and fresher than recently, though still warm in eastern England.

Thursday: Showers will be more scattered, with most places having a dry day. Temperatures will be close to the norm.

Outlook: High pressure keeps it mostly dry in the south. In the north it's a changeable picture with showers or longer  spells of rain at times. Temperatures will often be quite close to the norm, but it could be warm at times in central and eastern counties.
