Mixed week but hot for a time in the south

The weather this week will be quite mixed, with showers or longer spells of rain mostly affecting the northern half of the UK. Temperatures climb in the south, probably peaking in the mid-30°Cs on Wednesday, before somewhat cooler conditions return on Thursday.

North to south split

Showery rain affects the northern half of the UK and western Wales today. A few heavy bursts are possible in the north west. Other areas have a dry day, with the best of the sunshine in the south.

Temperatures range from 13°C in the north west to 27°C in the south. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Persistent outbreaks of rain spread across much of Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it remains mostly dry.

Tomorrow:
Outbreaks of rain in Scotland clear eastwards, but it stays damp in the west and Northern Ireland. England and Wales have a dry day, with the longest sunny spells again in the south. Warm generally, hot in southern central and eastern England.

Wednesday: Outbreaks of rain are likely in Scotland and Northern Ireland. England and Wales have a fine day and it turns very hot. Temperatures are expected to peak in the mid 30°Cs.

Outlook: Southern and central have a lot of fine weather, although showery rain is possible initially. In the north it it will be more changeable. Temperatures dip in the south, but it remains warm.
