Historic heatwave breaks this weekend

The weather will be mixed this weekend as the heatwave breaks. Central and eastern counties have another hot day, but temperatures will be lower than yesterday, and thundery showers affect the south east and East Anglia. The cooling trend continues tomorrow as fresher conditions spread eastwards across the UK.

Still very warm or hot

Thundery showers clear from the south east this morning, leaving sunny periods across much of the UK. There will be more cloud in the north west, where outbreaks of rain develop during the afternoon and become heavy in places.

Note: A new June temperatures record was set for the third consecutive day. In Suffolk 37.3°C was reported yesterday, surpassing the previous June temperature record set a day earlier.

Temperatures range from 19°C in the north west to 33°C in central and eastern England. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight:
Thundery showers push across the south east and East Anglia. Outbreaks of rain also spread eastwards across the west. Elsewhere it stays dry. Warm and muggy in central and eastern counties.

Tomorrow:
Patchy outbreaks of rain clear eastwards. Sunny spells then develop widely, although there will be further showers in the north west. Feeling much fresher than recently, but it will still be warm in central and eastern England.

Monday: Dry and bright across much of the UK, although scattered showers are possible in the north west. It will be quite warm in central and eastern counties.

Outlook: Changeable conditions are expected to continue through the middle part of the week. Showers or longer spells of rain are most likely in the north and west. In the south and east it will often be dry. Rather warm in the south but cooler in the north.
