Yesterday was the hottest May day on record in the UK. Temperatures reached 34.8°C at Kew Gardens, beating the previous record of 32.8°C by a huge margin. It's possible that today will be even hotter, but tomorrow temperatures are expected to be lower overall.

Most of the UK has another fine day, although a few showers could break out in central England and southern Wales. Thicker cloud could also bring some patchy rain to eastern Scotland. It will be exceptionally hot in England and Wales. The May temperature record, which was set yesterday, could be beaten again today.
Temperatures range from 14°C in northern Scotland to 35°C in southern and central counties. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight:Showers fade away leaving dry conditions across the UK. In some southern locations temperatures may not dip below 21°C.

Tomorrow:A few showers are possible, but most of the UK has another fine day. However, temperatures are forecast to be lower than in recent days, particularly in central and eastern England. The hottest conditions will probably be focused on southern Wales and south west England.

Thursday: Mostly fine, although isolated showers are possible. Very warm or hot. Temperatures could exceed 30°C in places.
Outlook: Very warm or hot weather continues on Friday. During the weekend conditions are expected to turn more changeable and cooler. The mixed weather is then expected to become established and last through much of next week.
