The rest of the week brings a mixed bag of weather. After a coolish start, temperatures steadily rise, with Saturday looking quite warm. However, there will be showers at times, and by Sunday a transition to more unsettled conditions is likely.

Many places have a dry day. However, there will be a scattering of showers, with most of them in the south west, north west and perhaps East Anglia this afternoon.

Tonight:Patchy outbreaks of rain push into the far northwest and showers continue in the southwest. Elsewhere it becomes dry, and clear periods allow temperatures to dip. Ground frost develops in places.

Tomorrow:Sunny spells and scattered showers across much of the UK, but there is a risk of more prolonged rain in the far northwest. Feeling warmer again, particularly in southern and central Britain.

Friday: Sunny spells and showers. Quite warm in southern and central areas.
Outlook: Showery rain spreads southwards across the north on Saturday. Southern and central areas have a dry day with warm spells of sunshine. Unsettled conditions develop in the following days, with showers or longer spells of rain expected across much of the UK. Temperatures dip and it will become chilly for the time of year.
