The rain has been relentless recently, and with weather patterns across the North Atlantic region stuck in a rut, there is more to come, as well as hill snow in the north. The culprits for this ongoing spell are a southerly displaced jet stream, a stagnant trough in the Atlantic, and higher pressure to the north that is showing signs of shifting towards Greenland. Change may take place later next week.

Outbreaks of rain push affect much of the UK through the course of the day. The persistent rain eases in the south, with showery conditions developing in the afternoon. Also, in western Scotland there should be a good deal of dry weather. In the northern half of the UK sleet and snow continues to be a risk over high ground.
Temperatures range from 3°C in northern Scotland to 12°C near the south coast. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.
