The weather during the coming week will have a different feel to last week. Gone is the cold block; now it’s the turn of the Atlantic to drive conditions across our part of the world. Therefore, expect wind and rain at times, but despite the mildness today, the flow will often be relatively cool. That leads to the possibility of frost during quieter spells and snow over high ground in the north.
Issued 6th January 2026
After a mostly dry start showery rain pushes eastwards across the UK. The rain will be heavy at times, but some places are likely to miss it and remain dry. Strong winds in the north steadily ease through the day.
Milder than recently. Temperatures range from 6°C in the far north to 13°C in the south west. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tomorrow:Outbreaks of rain affect much of England and Wales, but in the afternoon they become patchier in the north and west. Northern Ireland and Scotland have sunny spells, but there will be showers, in Scotland they turn wintry, particularly over high ground. Mild in the south, rather cold in the north.
UKV, Tuesday 13th January [Tap animation to toggle cities]
Wednesday: Much of the UK has a dry and frosty start, although there could be outbreaks of rain in the south east. Wet conditions continue in southern Britain and a band of rain is expected to push into western areas, perhaps preceded by sleet or wet snow in northern Britain.
Outlook: During the next few days the weather will remain changeable. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely, and over high ground in the north, sleet or snow remains a possibility. Temperatures will generally be close to the seasonal norm, so there will still be a risk of frost in areas where clear periods develop.
