An area of low pressure will deepen as it approaches the UK today and track across the south tonight and tomorrow. It will bring very wet and windy conditions, with disruption likely. Wind gusts of up to 60mph are possible inland, and 80mph is not out of the question in coastal counties.

Scattered showers will continue in Northern Ireland and western Britain. Elsewhere, it will be dry and bright, although cloud will build this afternoon in the southern and central areas.

Tomorrow:Very wet and windy conditions will affect much of England, Wales and possibly eastern Scotland. Disruption is likely, with the strongest winds near the south coast, as well as in central and eastern England. Gusts of 50 to 60?mph are possible inland with over 70?mph in coastal locations. It will feel very cold.

Friday:
Showers or longer spells of rain are possible across much of the UK. The worst conditions are expected in northern and eastern Scotland. It will remain windy, especially in coastal counties, and feel cold.
Outlook:
Saturday is expected to be cold, with showers in places and longer spells of rain near the east coast. Over high ground in the north there is a risk of sleet and snow at times. Very windy near the east coast. Sunday brings a mix of sunny spells and showers, with winds steadily easing.
