Tonight, wet weather spreads eastwards across most areas, although in East Anglia and south eastern England it probably remains dry. Over high ground in the north sleet or snow is likely. Windy.

Tomorrow, heavy bursts of rain continue pushing eastwards and over high ground in the north further snow is expected. Brighter conditions follow into Northern Ireland, Wales and south western England during the afternoon. Another feature of the weather will be the winds, with gales or even severe gales possible in coastal counties.

Unsettled and milder

Friday is looking mixed. Showery spells of rain are possible and temperatures will be higher than recently. However, it remains quite windy.

During Saturday a band of rain pushes eastwards. Drier conditions follow and it turns very mild in southern and central regions. By the evening it may be turning wet again in Northern Ireland.

Sunday may be dry in much of the UK, although there is a greater risk of rain in the north west. Rather mild.
