The UK has another cold day and there will be showers in eastern Britain, with many of them falling as sleet or snow in the north. The next few days bring more of the same, with widespread frosts and crisp days. Milder conditions are expected to return next week, but there is still uncertainty and a colder scenario could prevail. Wednesday starts with wintry showers in eastern coastal counties. Elsewhere, it is dry and there has been a widespread frost.
Through the day, showers continue in eastern counties. In eastern Scotland some of them could be heavy and fall as snow to low levels. Patchy outbreaks of rain are likely to push into the far south west of England at times, but the rest of the UK remains dry, bright and cold.
Cold generally with temperatures ranging from 3°C in Scotland to 6°C in most of the UK, although it will be somewhat milder in the south west. You can check the rain radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, wintry showers continue in the north east and they could give accumulations of snow in places. Also, there is an ongoing risk of patchy outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in the south south west. However, other areas have clear periods and a widespread frost develops. Temperatures could plunge to -7°C locally in central counties.
Tomorrow, patchy outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow continue in the south west and in counties to the south of London. There will also be showers in the east and north east. In the northern half of Britain some of them could be heavy and they often fall as snow down to low levels. Other areas remain dry and bright. Cold.
Friday is expected to be cold and bright in much of the UK. Nonetheless, there will be further sleet or snow showers in the north and close to the east coast. Frost will be widespread early and late.
The cold weather continues on Saturday. Scattered showers are forecast in coastal counties, with many of them falling as sleet or snow in the north. Don't forget your winter woollies if you're heading out in the evening!
During Sunday the risk of showers increases in Northern Ireland and the far west of Britain. Over high ground they could be wintry. The rest of the UK has another dry, bright and cold day.
