Will Glastonbury be a mudbath?

Glastonbury 2024 takes place between 26th and 30th June at Pilton, Somerset. June often brings mixed weather and much of the UK has experienced very wet conditions since last year. Therefore, the ground is already soggy and less rain than usual would be needed to create a mud bath like those experienced in 2005 and 2007.

There is a term for the unsettled conditions which can develop at this time of the year - the “European Monsoon”. It describes the strengthening of westerly winds in June and July which often bring unsettled and wet weather. The most likely period for it to occur is around the time of the Glastonbury festival. Despite that, records show that many years were not washouts by any stretch of the imagination.
