Wet and windy weather pushes east

Wet conditions push eastwards today, but amounts of rain in central and eastern England remain small. The coming days bring a mixed bag of weather, with very warm conditions possible in central and eastern areas on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Heavy rain arriving

Heavy outbreaks of rain push across Northern Ireland and much of western Britain this morning. This afternoon the rain continues to spread eastwards, but it will be more showery in nature in southern and central areas. In East Anglia and the south eastern corner it remains mostly dry. Brighter conditions return to Northern Ireland and south western Britain. Quite windy.

Tonight:
The wet conditions clear eastwards, leaving clear skies, but there will be showers in the north west. Temperatures dip sharply, with ground frost developing in parts of the north and west.

Tomorrow:
Showers become increasingly scattered in the north west. Other areas have a dry day, but there is a risk of outbreaks of rain pushing into the far south east.

Tuesday: Most places have a dry start on Tuesday, and there is the potential for it to turn very warm in southern and central areas. However, it becomes very windy in the west and outbreaks of rain begin pushing in from the Atlantic.

Outlook: A rather unsettled period is expected from Tuesday through Thursday, leading to the potential for showers, longer spells of rain and strong winds in all regions. However, high pressure is expected to begin building from the south by Friday, bringing a return to more settled conditions, at least in southern and central regions.
