Mixed weather continues this week

The changeable weather will continue through the coming days, so all regions could have rain at times, but the wettest conditions will often be in the north. After a warm start in the south, temperatures will become close to the seasonal norm.

Warm in England and Wales

Scattered showers affect England and Wales, but there will be sunny spells and most places remain dry. It's a different picture in Northern Ireland, where outbreaks of rain become heavy and persistent. The wet conditions extend across northern and western Scotland this afternoon, but it should stay dry in the east.

Temperatures range from 14°C in the north west to 24°C in the south east. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight:
Outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards, becoming lighter and patchier. In central and eastern England it remains mostly dry. Heavy showers continue in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Tomorrow:
The remnants of the rain clear southeastwards, leaving sunny spells in all areas. However, there will be heavy showers in the northern half of the UK. It will be breezy and cooler than recently in the south.

Wednesday: A few showers are possible, but most of the UK remains dry. However, outbreaks of rain push into the  north west later on.

Outlook: Mixed. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely, particularly in the north and west. In the south rainfall amounts will probably be quite small. Temperatures remain close to the mid-September norm. It will be windy at times, especially in the northern half of the UK.
