A changeable weather pattern is likely to persist for much of the coming week. It will lead to an ongoing chance of showers or longer spells of rain, but the wettest conditions are likely to be in the north and west. Despite that, there will be dry and warm or even very warm periods in the south and east.

Southern and central regions could see the odd shower, but it will be mostly dry and bright. In the north and west showers will be heavier and more frequent. Windy, especially in the north.

Tonight: Outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across Wales and the northern half of the UK. In much of southern, central and eastern England it stays dry.
Tomorrow: Outbreaks of rain in the north and west steadily ease. Bright spells develop, with the best of them in the south. If the cloud breaks for long enough temperatures could locally reach 27°C in southern and central England.

On Wednesday the risk of showers increases in southern and central regions. Nonetheless, it may be very warm in areas where sunny periods continue into the afternoon. The highest temperatures are likely to be in eastern England. The northern half of the UK remains dry and bright.
On Thursday and Friday the weather remains changeable. Showers or longer spells of rain affect all of the UK, but the wettest conditions are expected in the north and west.
