All parts of the UK will experience a mild day, with very wet conditions in western Scotland. The mild weather is expected to continue through the early part of the coming week, but temperatures are likely to dip on Wednesday and Thursday. It remains too early to be confident about the weather prospects for Christmas Day, as computer models continue to present different scenarios. Heavy outbreaks of rain affect western and northern Scotland today. In other parts of western Britain and Northern Ireland there will be some light spells of rain. Central and eastern counties have a lot of cloud, but it remains mostly dry. In the north it becomes windy.

Tonight not much changes. A few clear spells are possible, but the focus remains on overcast and mild conditions, with further heavy bursts of rain in the north west.
Tomorrow brings a repeat performance. Heavy outbreaks of rain continue in western and northern Scotland. Patchy rain or drizzle is likely in other parts of the UK, with the driest conditions mostly in the east. Milder in all areas and quite windy in the north.

The next few days see unsettled conditions. The wettest conditions are expected to be in the north and west, but all areas have rain at times. Windy and mild.
