The fine and very warm weather continues today in England and Wales. In Scotland and Northern Ireland it is a more mixed picture with showery spells of rain. Cooler air will be slowly edging southwards in the coming days, but possibly not before 30°C is reached for the first time this year either tomorrow or on Thursday. Tonight, patchy spells of rain continue in southern Scotland and northern England. Elsewhere, it remains dry and there will be clear periods. It will be a warm night in southern Britain and locally temperatures may not dip below 20°C.
Tomorrow, a few heavy showers could break out in northern and western areas. To the south and east it remains dry, sunny and very warm or hot. If anything temperatures are likely to be a little higher than today's and 30°C may well be reached.
UK Met UKV, Wednesday 26th June [Tap animation to toggle cities]
A change takes place during the second half of the week. Cooler conditions with showery spells of rain push across the northern half of the UK early on. However, in the south it should remain mostly dry, although temperatures dip a little. At this stage it looks as though high pressure will then build back across the southern half of the UK, leading to mostly dry and rather warm conditions at the weekend. In the north it remains more mixed and cooler.
