The bank holiday weekend will bring mixed weather. Showers or longer spells of rain are a risk in all regions at times, but drier and brighter periods are also expected. In large parts of the UK the driest and warmest conditions are likely today. Issued 21st May 2024
Saturday begins with patchy rain in Scotland and East Anglia. In the rest of the UK it is mostly dry.
As the day progresses, the rain in East Anglia becomes persistent and pushes into Lincolnshire and south Yorkshire. Also, outbreaks of rain push into the south west this afternoon. There is a likelihood of scattered showers in other southern and central regions, but many places miss them and in much of the UK it will be a dry day with bright spells.
Temperatures range from 14°C in the wet areas to 21°C in the south. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

UK Met UKV, Saturday 25th May [Tap animation to toggle cities]
Tonight, showery outbreaks of rain extend westwards across much of northern England and possibly western Scotland. Wet conditions also push over much of southern Britain. Elsewhere, it stays dry.
Tomorrow, low pressure will dominate proceedings. Outbreaks of rain spread northwards and turn more showery. In the south sunny spells develop, but there will be further showers which could become heavy and thundery. Despite that, there will be dry interludes, and in sunny spells temperatures will quickly rise.
UK Met UKV, Sunday 26th May [Tap animation to toggle cities]
During the first half of next week another area of low pressure is expected to push in from the Atlantic. It keeps the unsettled weather going. Therefore, heavy and thundery showers or longer spells of rain are likely in all regions and temperatures will be largely dependent on the amount of sunshine which develops. On the whole, values will probably be close to the seasonal average.
