Today, outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow slowly push northwards. Snow is most likely on their leading edge in central and northern areas, particularly over high ground where disruptive accumulations are expected. By tomorrow the risk of snow will likely be confined to Scotland and the Pennines. Thursday begins with outbreaks of rain across much of southern and central Britain, as well as Northern Ireland. On their leading edge there is sleet and snow in places. Areas to the north are dry and frosty.
Through the day, outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow continue to edge northwards. By the late afternoon their northern extent will probably be the Scottish Borders.
Snow will mostly be over high ground and on the leading edge of the precipitation area. Disruptive accumulations are possible, particularly over the Pennines and Cheviots this afternoon. However, even at low levels several cms of wet snow could fall in places.
In southern Britain it turns drier for a time. However, another band of heavy rain pushes into counties south of London this afternoon. Much of Scotland remains dry and cold, although there will be a few snow showers dotted around.
There will be a very steep temperature gradient. Areas to the south of London may reach 13°C, but in the Midlands 5°C is likely to be close to the mark. In the north values range from -1°C to 4°C. You can check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Scotland has patchy outbreaks of sleet and snow, with the heaviest expected in central and eastern areas. Very mild in the south, very cold in the north.
Tomorrow, southern and central regions have showery conditions, but bright spells should develop. The northern half of the UK has outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow. The heaviest of them are expected in the north east, with snow mostly in Scotland and rain or sleet elsewhere. Mild in southern and central regions. Cold in the north.

Saturday is expected to be showery and relatively mild in much of the UK. Nonetheless, in Scotland it remains colder and there could be further spells of rain, sleet and snow.
The mixed theme continues on Sunday. Outbreaks of rain are possible in eastern Britain, but in central areas it could remain mostly dry. In Northern Ireland, Wales and southern England showers develop and some could be heavy. Rather cold in the north east, but quite mild elsewhere.
Monday could see outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow pushing back into the north. Southern and central regions may stay mainly dry. Temperatures close to average in the south and below it in the north.
