A big change is set to take place through the rest of the week. High pressure will build from the west bringing colder and more settled weather. Frost is likely to become widespread, and there could be wintry showers for a time in central and eastern counties. Computer models are suggesting temperatures will often be below average during the next few weeks. Thursday starts with showers in the northern half of the UK. In the south it is dry.
Through the day, showers continue in the north. In the south cloud builds, and through the afternoon heavy outbreaks of rain push across southern England, into the Midlands and East Anglia. In places they could lead to further flooding. Winds strengthen and near to the south coast gales are possible. Much of Wales should remain dry throughout.

Tonight, the rain clears from most areas, but it probably stays wet in eastern England. Northern and western areas have chilly and showery conditions. Windy in the south east.
Tomorrow, the remnants of the rain in the east slowly clear to leave a showery picture across the UK. However, many locations probably remain dry and there should be a reasonable amount of brightness. it will feel a little colder than recently.
Saturday should be mostly dry and bright. However, there could be a few showers scattered around, and in the north and east they may begin to turn wintry. Colder than recently, with a widespread frost developing overnight.
Sunday is forecast to be bright and cold in the north and west of the UK. In the east showers are likely and through the day they push westwards into central areas. Over high ground they could fall as sleet or snow. Cold with frost early and late.
Monday is expected to be cold and dry in most areas. However, there is a risk of sleet and snow showers in central and eastern England. They probably won't amount to much, but a few places may see a covering of snow.
