The week starts on a mixed note with showery rain in places. However, a change will take place tomorrow as high pressure moves in from the west. It brings drier conditions, particularly to southern and central regions. By Thursday the high pressure starts to build further northwest, and Arctic air pushes southwards towards the UK. Forecast details are uncertain, but Friday and the weekend are looking cold. Tonight, showery rain push southwards across Britain. Areas to its north and south will be mainly dry.
Tomorrow the patchy rain slowly clears southwards, although it could stay damp in the south east into the afternoon. There could also be patchy rain in the north west, but other areas remain dry.
Wednesday is expected to be dry in southern and central regions. In the north and west there is a risk of patchy outbreaks of rain. Temperatures will be close to the average in the south and above it in the north. Windy in the north.
The dry period continues in the south on Thursday. However, in the northern half of the UK a band of rain is likely to be pushing southwards. Colder air follows into Scotland later on.
By Friday forecast confidence become very low. At the moment, the most likely scenario is for colder air to be pushing southwards across the UK. It's impact is most likely to be felt in the east and the north, where wintry showers are possible.
