The next few days bring more of the same, but computer models are increasingly pointing to a change taking place towards the end of the week. An area of low pressure is expected to push up from southwest, leading to an increasing risk of thundery showers. The could spread northwards across much of the UK this weekend, but forecast details are uncertain at the moment.(If you would like to browse the website without adverts until the end of the year and contribute to its ongoing development you can do so by making a donation of £15 or more via PayPal, see below)
Issued 21st May 2023
Issued 6th June 2023
Tuesday starts dry across the UK. In central and eastern areas there is a lot of cloud.
Through the day sunny spells develop, with the best of them in the west. Eastern counties hang on to more cloud. An odd shower could bubble up in northern Britain and Northern Ireland, but for the vast majority it remains dry.
Temperatures range from 13C (55F) near the east coast to 22C (72F) in the west. See the rain radar for the latest view.
The headline is for a warmer than average summer. Rainfall amounts are expected to vary significantly across the UK, but despite the dry start a slightly wetter than average season is favoured. Read the seasonal forecast in full.

Tonight any showers in the north fade away. Clear spells could lead to a touch of ground frost locally in the north.
Tomorrow brings a repeat performance. The brightest and warmest conditions continue to be in the west. Central and eastern counties have quite a lot of cloud, but bright spells probably develop more widely than today. Temperatures perhaps a degree or two higher than today's.
By Thursday temperatures are likely to be climbing in the south. Maximum values of close to 25C (77F) are likely in areas where sunny periods develop. Isolated showers again pop up in the north.
Friday could be the warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures possibly reaching 28C (82F) locally in the south. However, the risk of showers begins to increase in the south west.
Forecast details for the weekend and early part of next week are subject to change. Nonetheless, computer models are increasingly suggesting the likelihood of thundery showers pushing northwards across the UK. In sunny spells it becomes very warm or even hot, and 30C (86F) being reached isn't entirely out of the question.
