Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow push eastwards across southern Britain today. Significant accumulations of snow are likely in places, particularly over high ground. The north has sunny spells and scattered snow showers. Tomorrow the snow risk becomes focused on the northern Midlands, northern Wales and northern England. Wednesday starts with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in the south. In central and northern areas it is mostly dry and there has been a severe frost.
This morning the outbreaks of sleet and snow ease from west, but another batch of wet weather pushes into the south west. Through the afternoon they move northeastwards across Wales, much of the south and into the Midlands. To the south of London rain is likely, but significant outbreaks of snow are possible to its north. However, conditions are marginal and there is uncertainty about how much will accumulate. A few cms are possible quite widely and locally over high ground 10cm is not out of the question.
Areas further north have sunny spells; however, there will be snow showers in places. In northern Scotland and north eastern England a few could be heavy.
Very cold. Temperatures range from 0C (32F) in northern Scotland to 7C (45F) in the far south west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the rain, sleet and snow in southern and central regions becomes more showery as it clears eastwards. A lot of cloud remains and later on rain returns to the south west. The northern half of the UK has a very cold night and in the Scottish glens temperatures could fall to -12C (10F). Snow showers continue in the north east and the far north.
Tomorrow wet weather pushes across much of England and Wales. In much of southern and central Britain rain is expected and there could be some heavy bursts. However, in northern Wales and parts of northern England sleet or snow is likely. Areas further north have a lot of dry weather, but snow showers continue in the eastern half of Scotland. Very cold in central and northern areas. In the south it will be a little less cold and in the far south west it could be quite mild.
During Friday outbreaks of rain and snow in central parts of the UK steadily push southeastwards. Further accumulations of snow are possible in Wales, as well as central and northern England. Scotland and Northern Ireland have sunny periods, but snow showers continue in the far north. Very cold.
The weekend is looking mixed. Southern and central areas have showers or longer spells of rain and it could become windy. In the north heavy outbreaks of snow are possible, but forecast details are uncertain. Temperatures in the south will probably be close to or above the average.
