Much of the UK has another dry day but there will be showers in the north and east. However, things will be changing in the coming days as it turns much colder and wintry weather returns. Disruptive snow is expected initially in the north and north east, but later in the week areas of low pressure pushing in from the southwest could increase the risk. Saturday starts with a few showers in the far north and close to the east coast but most places are dry. There has been a patchy frost with the lowest temperatures in the north west.
Through the day showers continue in the northern half of Scotland and some of them will be wintry. Showers also push into eastern England at times. Elsewhere it stays dry and sunny spells develop.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in the north to 8C (46F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers become more widespread and in the north of the UK they turn increasingly wintry. Cloud cover probably keeps temperatures above freezing point in most areas, although locally they may drop a little below it.
Tomorrow showers are possible in most areas and over high ground in the north they will be wintry at times. Later in the day they become prolonged in Scotland and there is the potential for significant accumulations of snow, particularly over high ground. Temperatures generally a little lower than today's.
Through Monday a band of rain pushes southwards and by the evening it probably reaches Wales and central England. To its north sleet or snow showers develop and in Scotland they bring the likelihood of further significant accumulations. To the south it should be mainly dry. Temperatures in the south won't be too far from the norm, but in the north it becomes very cold.
During Tuesday outbreaks of rain and sleet clear southwards. Brighter conditions follow and many places stay dry. However, snow showers become heavy in northern Scotland, eastern coastal counties and possibly Northern Ireland. Cold or very cold.
Forecast details for Wednesday are very uncertain. There is a risk of rain, sleet and snow pushing into southern England and Wales. Central and northern regions probably remain cold and mostly dry, although isolated snow showers are likely.
