Wet conditions spread southwards across the northern half of the UK today. To the south it is a dry picture. During the next few days it becomes very windy at times in the north and there will be showers or longer spells of rain too. In the south it isn't likely to be as windy and rain amounts probably remain very small. Sunday starts with showery rain in the far north west. Elsewhere it is dry and locally there has been a touch of frost.
Through the day a band of rain moves southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland. In western areas some heavy outbreaks are likely. By the late afternoon it reaches northern England. Areas to the south remain mostly dry, although there will be a lot of cloud. Windy in the north.

Tonight the outbreaks of rain push southwards and fizzle away. Clearer skies follow from the north, but wintry showers develop in Scotland.
Tomorrow starts with wintry showers in Scotland, elsewhere it is likely to be dry and bright. Cloudier conditions spread across much of the UK and in the afternoon patchy outbreaks of rain push into the north west. Temperatures close to the seasonal average.
Tuesday begins with a fragmenting band of rain clearing southwards. All regions then have sunny spells but wintry showers become widespread in the north. In Scotland they merge to give longer spells of rain, sleet or snow. Cold in the north, quite mild in the south.
Wednesday probably starts very windy in the northern half of the UK. Wintry showers could be quite widespread in the north to begin with but they should fade away as the day progresses. Winds steadily ease from the west. Rather cold.
During the rest of the week high pressure is forecast to build northwards. All regions can expect a good deal of dry weather, although the risk of rain remains higher in the north, especially early on. Daytime temperatures will probably be close to the norm and some chilly nights are possible.
