Showers return today, with some heavy ones likely in central and eastern England. Temperatures remain on the low side for late April. During the next few days areas of low pressure keep things mixed and the risk of longer outbreaks of rain increases this weekend. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

Tonight showers fade away and clear spells in central and northern areas lead to a frost. In the south cloud builds and by the morning outbreaks of rain are likely in  places.

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny spells and showers to central and northern areas. In the south it is likely to be cloudy with patchy bursts of rain. The overcast skies may make for a particularly cold late April day.

Weekend details still uncertain

On Saturday outbreaks of rain in the central and eastern England gradually pull away. Central and northern areas have bright spells and scattered showers. Later on, further spells of rain push into the south.

Forecast details for Sunday are uncertain. Areas of low pressure will be close to the UK, leading to a risk of showers or longer spells of rain. However, some computer models are still showing the possibility of drier conditions winning out, so that outcome is not discounted yet. On balance though, it looks more likely that wet conditions will be pushing northwards.

During Monday outbreaks of rain push across northern and western areas. To the south and east it could remain mostly dry.
