The bank holiday weekend is set to bring mixed weather. Today the driest and brightest weather will be in the south and the far north west. Tomorrow, showers continue in the northern half of the UK, and an area of low pressure may bring longer spells of rain to the south west. Weather forecast discussion

Saturday starts dry in the south of the UK. In central and northern areas it is more mixed with showery rain in places.

Through the day it remains overcast with showers in much of northern Britain, but western Scotland should remain mostly dry. Northern Ireland longer is likely to have longer spells of rain. In southern Britain sunny spells develop, but there will be scattered showers, particularly in the south eastern corner.

Temperatures range from a chilly 12°C to 19°C. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, showers continue in northern Britain. Also, by the end of the night patchy outbreaks of rain may be feeding into the south west. In the rest of the UK it stays dry. 

The mixed weather continues tomorrow. In the south western Britain and perhaps more widely in the south there is a risk of rain. Central and northern areas can expect a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers.

Drier and warmer next week

Bank Holiday Monday is expected to bring mixed conditions. There should be bright spells but also heavy showers, particularly in the afternoon. There is a risk of longer outbreaks of rain in southern Britain.

Tuesday is expected to be mostly dry with variable amounts of cloud. In sunny spells it will become quite warm.

Wednesday is forecast to be dry, sunny and quite warm in most areas. The exception is the north west where there is a risk of patchy outbreaks of rain. Temperatures could reach the low 20Cs in the south.
