Rain at times in the north west

Outbreaks of rain clear northeastwards from Scotland this morning. There will then be showers in the northwest, and during the afternoon another area of rain pushes across Northern Ireland. The rest of the UK will have a dry day with sunny spells.

Tonight:
Rain spreads across northern and western Scotland, clearing by morning. Elsewhere it remains dry with clear periods.

Tomorrow:
Showery spells of rain continue to be a risk in the northwest. The rest of the UK has a fine day, and it becomes very warm in southern and central areas where temperatures could reach 28°C in the afternoon.

Saturday: Showers in central areas clear eastwards in the morning. All areas then have a dry day and it will be warm or very warm. 

Outlook: Very warm or hot conditions are expected, and there is a realistic chance of 30°C being reached for the first time this year. However, there will still be day to day variability, with the possibility of patchy spells of rain at times in the northern and western Scotland.
