Today could be the hottest day of the year so far. The target temperature is 30.3°C and a number of locations could beat it this afternoon. Cooler air will be returning southeastwards this weekend. Light outbreaks of rain continue to be a risk today in the north west of the UK. In other areas it will be dry with sunny periods, the best of them are expected to be in central and eastern England where it will become hot. Today may be the hottest of the year so far, beating the 30.3°C recorded at Heathrow on 26th June.
Temperatures range from 18°C in the far north west to 31°C in central and south eastern areas. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, heavy outbreaks of rain push into the north west and then the west more widely. Central and eastern Britain remains dry and muggy.
Tomorrow, heavy outbreaks of rain affect northern and western Britain. Central and eastern counties have sunny spells and it becomes very warm again. However, there is a risk of thundery showers developing in the afternoon.

The next few days are looking mixed. On Monday showery conditions are likely and temperatures will be close to the average. Tuesday and Wednesday could be mostly dry and warm in the southern half of the UK. In the north there is a greater risk of showers.
