The warmest day of the year so far is likely to be recorded either today or at the weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach highs close to 27C, but by Sunday an area of low pressure will be pushing in from the Atlantic. It is set to bring a change to more unsettled weather, but eastern counties could hold on to the warmth until Monday or even Tuesday. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

Tonight, it stays dry in all areas. Temperatures in most of the UK remain in double figures.

Tomorrow isolated showers could develop but virtually the whole of the UK enjoys another dry day with sunny periods. Temperatures will be similar to today's, perhaps even a little higher.

Unsettled next week

By Sunday pressure will be starting to fall, leading to a greater chance of showers, particularly in the west. Despite that, there should still be spells of warm sunshine. Temperatures could reach 27°C in the London area.

Monday sees a major change in the weather taking place. Low pressure brings heavy outbreaks of rain to south western Britain. Other parts of the west and north have thundery showers. Central and eastern England could hold on to the dry and warm weather, but it isn't certain.

Tuesday is looking unsettled. Showers or longer spells of rain are possible across the UK, accompanied by blustery winds.
