Tonight, the showers become more scattered and clear periods develop widely. Temperatures drop sharply and ground frost forms, particularly in sheltered locations.

Tomorrow showers return, although they will be more scattered than today. Nonetheless, there's still a chance of heavy ones in the north and west. Temperatures continue to climb, with top values of around 15°C in central and eastern England.

Developments after Easter Sunday still uncertain

Easter Sunday is expected to be dry in much of England and Scotland. However, in Wales, Northern Ireland and perhaps the far south west of England there is a risk of showers. Temperatures range from 11°C to 17°C, with the highest values in southern and central regions.

Forecast details for Easter Monday are still firming up. Showers or longer spells of rain could push into southern and central Britain, but guidance from some computer models is pointing towards mostly dry conditions. In the north it should be dry and bright. Temperatures will be lower than recently, especially in the north and east.

During Tuesday outbreaks of rain perhaps push into southern Britain. Central and northern areas have scattered showers, which could be wintry over high ground in Scotland.
