An area of low pressure named Storm Nelson by the Spanish Met Office brings strong winds and heavy showers to southern Britain today. Showery conditions continue tomorrow, but there are signs of it turning drier in much of the UK during Saturday and Easter Sunday. With temperatures rising it could feel quite pleasant at times. Thursday starts with outbreaks of rain in northern England, northern Wales and Northern Ireland. It's also very wet in the far south west, but in other areas it is mostly dry.
As the day progresses the outbreaks of rain in the north slowly push northwards, but they become more fragmented. However, heavy showers move across England and Wales, at times merging to give longer spells of rain. Also, there is a risk of hail and thunder. It will be very windy, particularly near to the south coast and later on in the south eastern corner and East Anglia. Travel disruption is likely.
Temperatures range from 6°C to 11°C, with the highest values in East Anglia. You can check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, the showers move northwards and fade away. Drier conditions follow, but heavy showers are likely to return to southern Britain later.
The weather will be mixed for Good Friday tomorrow. Sunny spells develop but there will be showers that could turn heavy and thundery. Despite temperature being higher than recently strong winds are likely to make it feel cool, particularly when the showers come along.
The changeable theme continues on Saturday. In the south showers are likely to be more scattered than recently, but in the north they could be heavy and widespread. Temperatures will be higher than recently and in sheltered parts of the south it may feel quite pleasant in the afternoon sunshine.
Easter Sunday is expected to be dry in much of the UK, with showers mostly restricted to the west. Cloud amounts vary and with temperatures expected to range from 11°C to 17°C, it may be warm enough to sit outside for a while in the afternoon!
Forecast details for Easter Monday remain uncertain. Showers or longer spells of rain could extend over southern and central Britain. Scotland and Northern Ireland perhaps stay dry.
