Pinning down the weather details for the bank holiday weekend is proving difficult. With areas of low pressure close to the UK there is the potential for showery spells. However, a washout isn't expected and much of the UK could enjoy a decent weekend. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

Tonight heavy and thundery outbreaks of rain push across parts of the south. The worst conditions will probably be in the south west. Central and northern regions remain dry and mild.

Tomorrow will be dry in the north. In the south there is a risk of showers or longer spells of rain, but there should be some dry periods too. In sunny areas it will be warm.

Mixed bank holiday weekend

The mixed picture continues on Friday. Low pressure remains close to the UK so there is a risk of further showers. Despite that, a reasonable amount of dry and bright weather is expected. Temperatures are likely to be a little lower than in recent days.

Saturday could stay dry in much of the UK. However, there will be scattered showers that could turn heavy in places. Feeling warm in sunny spells.

Through Sunday it probably remains dry in central and northern areas. In the south there is an increasing chance of heavy and potentially thundery outbreaks of rain.
