An area of patchy rain moves southwards across England today and it will keep things cold for the time of the year. In the next few days a chilly northerly flow becomes established and the risk of frost remains. Towards the weekend it starts to turn more unsettled as areas of low pressure return. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

UKV 1
UK Met Office UKV, cloud and rain, 15:00 Monday 22nd April

Tonight the rain eases, but it remains damp in southern and central counties. In the north it will be dry with clear spells.

Tomorrow, showery rain clears southwards in eastern England. In much of the rest of the UK it should be dry, but scattered showers are likely in the north. Chilly for late April and the risk of frost overnight will be widespread.

Mixed outlook

The showery conditions continue in the north and east on Wednesday, but in the west it should be mostly dry. It will be cold enough for sleet or snow over high ground in the north. Also, there is a risk of longer spells of rain pushing into East Anglia and the south east at times.

More of the same on Thursday with sunny spells and showers. The showers could turn heavy and over high ground in the north they remain wintry. Temperatures stay on the low side.

Things begin to change by Friday. Patchy outbreaks of rain push eastwards and later in the day they could turn heavier in Northern Ireland.
