Heavy showers affect central and eastern England today, but elsewhere it is expected to become mostly dry. Friday starts with scattered showers in northern and eastern counties. Elsewhere, it is mostly dry. 

Through the day showers become heavy and prolonged in central and eastern England. In other areas it will be mostly dry, but through the afternoon cloud builds in the west.

Temperatures range from 13°C (55F) in the far north to 21°C (70F) near the south coast. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight, wet and windy conditions push across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. There could be further showers in the east too.

Tomorrow, wet and windy weather affects much of the UK, although it may stay dry in the northern half of Scotland. Severe gales are possible in western and southern coastal counties. Outbreaks of rain will be heavy at times, but during the afternoon more showery conditions start returning in the north west. Cool for early August.

Unsettled weather continues 

Sunday is looking mixed. Outbreaks of rain are expected to clear quickly from eastern counties. However, showers are likely to become widespread in the afternoon and some of them will be heavy. Cool, windy in the east and south east.

Monday is currently looking dry in southern and central Britain, but in the north the risk of showers remains. Later in the day outbreaks of rain push across Northern Ireland.

Tuesday is looking very mixed. Showers or longer spells of rain are possible in all of the UK. Rather cool and windy.
