An area of patchy rain spreads northwards but it should be bright in Scotland and Northern Ireland for much of the day. Milder air follows into southern counties and it stays overcast. Tomorrow is looking mostly dry but during Monday outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards.

Saturday starts with frost in the north but in the south it is milder and cloudier. Cloud and patchy rain in the south pushes slowly northwards through the day. In the west there could be some heavy bursts mixed in. In southern counties drier conditions return but it remains mostly overcast during the afternoon. Scotland and Northern Ireland have dry and bright conditions.
Temperatures generally range from 5C (41F) in the north and west to 12C (54F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight there will be drizzle in parts of northern England and southern Scotland. Areas to the south have a murky night with fog forming in places. In central and northern Scotland clear spells lead to frost returning.

Tomorrow is looking mainly dry, although there some light outbreaks of rain are expected to develop in the north west. Sunny intervals develop across England, Wales and eastern Scotland. Temperatures generally close to the seasonal average and in the north it will be milder than in recent days.
During Monday outbreaks of rain push southeastwards across much of the UK but it probably remains dry in the south. Temperatures will be similar to recent days.
Tuesday and Wednesday are looking mostly dry in the south. In the north and west outbreaks of rain are expected. It could also be become quite windy too. Temperatures probably trend a little above the early December average
Changeable weather is expected to continue through the rest of the week. At times it could turn rather cold and the risk of snow is expected to increase over high ground in the north.
