The heaviest ones will generally be in the west. It remains cloudier in north eastern England and much of Scotland with patchy outbreaks of rain.

Temperatures range from 19C (66F) to 25C (77F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow it's a similar picture. There will be sunny periods but showers break out again and they could be more frequent than today. Some are expected to be heavy and thundery. It will be warm, although with more showers around temperatures could be down a degree or two on today's values in the south and east.

Uncertain outlook

Wednesday brings sunny spells and widespread showers to the southern half of the UK. Much of the north should be drier, but some showers are likely in western Scotland. It remains quite warm.

During Thursday there is a risk of more persistent outbreaks of rain pushing westwards across southern and central Britain. The north probably has a mostly dry and warm day with sunny periods.

Through Friday and the weekend it looks as though a ridge of high pressure will build from the southwest. Forecast details are uncertain. Initially thundery showers remain possible but it could progressively become drier in the south. In the north it may become unsettled with outbreaks of rain returning from the Atlantic.
