Wednesday starts wet in much of the UK. Through the day showers or longer outbreaks of rain affect much of the country. They will be heavy at times but a few brighter spells are likely too. Drier conditions are expected in the northern half of Scotland this afternoon.

It will be cool. Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north to 18C (64F) locally in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow showery spells of rain push westwards over southern and central counties. The north should be mainly dry with bright spells. The highest temperatures will probably be in the south and west but it remains rather cool for mid June.

Warming up this weekend

The unsettled theme continues on Friday. Scotland and Northern Ireland could have some showery rain. Across much of England and Wales more persistent outbreaks of rain are expected. In the south the rain turns heavy at times.

Through the weekend it warms with temperatures climbing into the mid 20Cs. There will be sunny periods but also a risk of thunder storms and downpours in places. Rainfall amounts probably vary a lot over relatively short distances.

Early next week the changeable period continues. In sunny periods it will be very warm. However, the risk of thundery showers or longer spells of rain continues, particularly in the south.
