Drier and brighter conditions return from the west today. During the coming week the unsettled period continues. All areas of the UK will see showers or longer spells of rain. At times it will be cold enough for sleet or snow in the north and showers could turn wintry over high ground in the south too....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts with outbreaks of rain across much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In Scotland it's a showery picture. This morning the rain clears eastwards to leave brighter conditions in all regions. Wintry showers continue in the north west but most of the UK has a dry afternoon. Strong winds gradually ease through through the day.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain push northeastwards reaching southern Scotland by the morning. They will turn to sleet or snow over high ground in the north and perhaps down to lower levels at times. Northern Scotland remains dry.

Tomorrow a band of rain moves southeastwards across England and Wales. Brighter conditions follow, although it may linger in the south east until the early evening. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow affect Scotland for much of the day. It will be windy, particularly in northern England.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be chilly with a mix of sunny spells and showers. The showers will be wintry to low levels in the north and perhaps over high ground in parts of the south.
