The weather will be mixed today and tomorrow. This weekend Storm Dennis brings the likelihood of disruption due to heavy rain and strong winds. Gusts of up to 70mph are possible in places. After an unsettled start next week high pressure may begin to have more influence in the south....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with rain in northern England, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Over high ground there is some sleet and snow. Areas to the north are mainly dry. To the south heavy showers are pushing into western areas. This morning the wet weather clears away from the north. Showers continue to feed eastwards across southern and central areas but there will be sunny spells. This afternoon it becomes drier.
Temperatures range from 4C (39F) in the north to 9C (48F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight clear spells lead to a touch of frost in places. Later on winds strengthen in the north west and outbreaks of rain push into Northern Ireland.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain push southeastwards and become increasingly patchy. Brighter skies return to Scotland in the afternoon. Southern England probably remains dry until the evening. Windy with gales in the north and west.

The unsettled period continues this weekend and disruption is likely. During Saturday Storm Dennis brings very wet and windy weather to much of the country. Winds could gust to 70mph in northern and western regions. Heavy rain and strong winds are also expected in the southern half of the country on Sunday. In the north it may be more showery.
