A band of rain pushes northeastwards today. Brighter and milder conditions follow it into much of the country. Tomorrow is looking cool and showery but by Tuesday it turns drier as high pressure builds in from the west. Later in the week unsettled weather returns and temperatures rise again....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts with a band of rain stretching from Northern Ireland and southwestern Scotland down to south eastern England. Through the day it pushes northeastwards and over the Scottish mountains turns to sleet or snow. Drier and brighter conditions follow it. In western counties showers develop and they become heavy at times.
Temperatures range from 4C (39F) in Scotland to 13C (55F) in southern England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showery rain in the north and west steadily becomes confined to western Scotland. There could be a few showers in Wales to but in other areas it becomes mainly dry. Windy in the north.

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunshine and showers to northern and western counties. These will be wintry at times, particularly in the north and over high ground. Southern and eastern areas have a good deal of dry and bright weather with isolated showers.

Tuesday is looking chilly and bright in much of the country. There will be a few showers but many places miss them and remain dry.
Wednesday should be a dry day as high pressure builds in from the west. Frost could be widespread early and late.
Thursday is expected to be dry in southern and central counties. In the north cloud and rain probably return from the west.
Through the rest of the week it turns changeable and milder. Spells of rain will be most frequent in the north west.
