Rain pushes clears from the southeast this morning to leave bright conditions. This weekend further wet weather is likely in the north west but elsewhere it will be mainly dry with variable amounts of cloud. Next week it could become exceptionally mild for a time....READ IN FULL

Friday starts mainly dry in the north and west. There are outbreaks of rain in central and eastern England but during the morning they steadily clear southeastwards. Much of the country has sunny spells this afternoon. Showers are likely in the far north west and over high ground they could fall as snow. It will be quite windy, particularly in northern Scotland.
Temperatures generally range from 5C (41F) in the north to 9C (48F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight bursts of rain push into northern and western Scotland. They may also edge into Northern Ireland and north western England. Other areas have a dry and chilly night.

Tomorrow will be dry with bright spells in southern and central regions. In the north it will be windy and cloudy. Outbreaks of rain affect western and northern Scotland. A few spots of rain are also possible in north western England and Northern Ireland.

During Sunday rain continues in the far north and it could be damp more widely in the west and north west. Central, southern and eastern regions remain dry.
Through Monday a period of wet and windy weather pushes southeastwards across all areas. The rain becomes lighter and patchier by the time it reaches southern counties. It will be mild.
The rest of the week looks changeable. Wet and windy spells are expected to be most frequent in the north and west but at times they push southeastwards. Temperatures generally stay above the January average and early on it could be unusually mild.
