The weather will remain unsettled during the coming days with all regions having rain at times. After a chilly start it should become quite mild for a time during the second half of the week. Monday begins with wintry showers affecting parts of the north. In the south eastern corner it is wet but other areas are dry. Through the day the north and west have a mix of sunny spells and showers. Southern and central regions have a lot of cloud and rain becomes persistent to the southeast of London. Elsewhere it stays mainly dry.

Temperatures range between 5C (41F) in the north to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the wet weather in the south eastern corner spreads a little farther north and west but it probably doesn't reach much beyond London. Wintry showers become more scattered in the north and west. It will be quite cold with a patchy frost in the north.

Tomorrow cloud and outbreaks of rain in the south east gradually pull away. In the rest of the country sunny spells develop but there will be scattered showers in the north and west. It remains chilly.

Milder outlook

Through Wednesday another band of wet weather moves in from the Atlantic and it pushes northeastwards across western areas. Central and eastern Britain may remain dry for much of the day.

Rain clears eastwards during Thursday to leave a mix of sunshine and showers. It will be milder than recently, particularly in the southern half of the country.

Through the rest of the week it stays unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average.
