Friday starts with showers in much of the country and hill snow in the north. It turns drier and brighter through the morning. In the afternoon the next batch of wet and windy weather pushes into south western areas. Temperatures will be close to the seasonal average in the south but a little below in the north.
The weekend is looking changeable and quite cold. All regions have showers or longer spells of precipitation. Snow could fall to low levels in the north and possibly over the hills farther south.
Next week starts unsettled but a change is likely to take place. High pressure steadily builds to the south of the UK and it should bring drier conditions to the south and east. The north and west remain more unsettled. After a chilly start temperatures recover and it could become quite mild for a time.
