Mostly dry and quite chilly

During the next couple of days it remains dry and chilly in southern and central regions. In the north there will be rain at times and temperatures edge upwards. Later in the week unsettled and milder weather spreads southwards. Next week is looking unsettled and quite cold with a risk of snow in the north....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts dry across the UK and locally in the south there has been a touch of frost. Through the rest of the day it will be dry in most areas. Scotland remains overcast and in the west there could be some light rain. Elsewhere cloud cover breaks at times to give sunny spells.

Temperatures range from 7C (45F) to 11C (52F). The mildest conditions are likely to be in the far south west and north west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow patchy outbreaks of rain push southeastwards into northern England and northern Wales. Brighter and showery conditions follow behind them. Southern and central areas stay mainly dry with some sunny spells. Temperatures will be similar to today's.

Increasingly unsettled

On Thursday high pressure keeps the weather dry across much of England and Wales. Scotland, Northern Ireland and possibly north western England have outbreaks of rain.

During Friday outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards. Showery conditions follow into the north. It will be a lot milder in the south than recently.

The weekend is looking quite unsettled. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain but also dry periods. After a mild start temperatures drop back towards the average on Sunday.

Next week looks unsettled and quite chilly with wet and windy spells. In the northern half of the country it could be cold enough for snow at times.
